We are pleased to enclose the Programme and Registration Form for the SHARP Annual Scientific Meeting. This year the format has changed slightly offering a more extensive and varied programme at a 10% cost reduction on last year.

On the Thursday morning delegates to the SHARP meeting are invited to attend the morning sessions of the Scottish Lipid Forum. Topics to be addressed include lipid targets and screening for familial hypercholesterolaemia. Prior to lunch the SHARP meeting will open with a keynote address on sudden death. The sponsored satellite on Thursday afternoon will address residual risk in those with acute coronary syndrome and diabetes. The theme of risk reduction will continue on Friday morning addressing diet,

exercise, the perils of salt and sugar, the problems of therapy as well as the importance of good management in diabetic patients. Our series of interactive workshops will examine a new approach to chest pain and for the first time ever at a SHARP meeting the importance of good maternal health in preventing future heart disease. Our successful innovation of highlighting the research work done on the management of cardiovascular disease commences the afternoon programme followed by the importance of blood pressure in preventing heart disease and stroke.

We hope you will also be able to join us for dinner on the Thursday evening for what is always an enjoyable evening and an opportunity for delegates to meet with speakers and colleagues. Also in the evening there will be an illustrated talk by James Robson on sporting injuries.

We would be grateful if you could also encourage colleagues to attend this good value meeting which provides an excellent update and professional education on a range of important topics for current clinical practice. Registration Forms can be photocopied as required or obtained from the SHARP Office.

We look forward to receiving your completed Registration Form and to welcoming you to Dunkeld in November.
